While the latest update includes new Pokémon and an expanded Pokédex, it also features dozens of Legendaries and the possibility of catching starters from previous generations. The Indigo Disk walks the delicate balance of appealing to those who love to do battle and those who enjoy a solid Pokémon collect-a-thon, but it's still bogged down by the same issues the base games and the Teal Mask DLC had.

<![CDATA["A First Draft, Not A Final Cut" - Arashi: Castles of Sin - Final Cut Review]]> 2023 has been a big year for VR stealth games, with major franchises like Assassin's Creed and Vampire: The Masquerade entering the space to create some generally solid experiences. Stacked up against this kind of competition, it's easy to miss a title like Arashi: Castles of Sin - Final Cut, a re-release of a PSVR game that's finally available across a more complete spectrum of platforms. Developed by Endeavor One and published by Skydance Interactive, Arashi has its fair share of attractive elements, but it's ultimately weighed down by problems that feel like they should have been fixed before it returned to the market.

<![CDATA[Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising Review]]> Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising is the newest fighting game from developer Arc System Works, joining a roster that not only includes its previous entry but also iconic fighting games like the Guilty Gear series. It aims to build off the story and characters from the first title, Granblue Fantasy Versus, while also further refining and experimenting with the streamlined gameplay mechanics introduced in its predecessor and in Guilty Gear Strive. While it succeeds in a number of ways, Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising suffers from an unengaging story mode and struggles to provide a satisfying rhythm to its combat, resulting in a whelming release in a roster of strong titles.

<![CDATA[While The Iron's Hot Review: "Hampered By Some Design Flaws"]]> Not every game needs to be a tense, dramatic experience. This has been the spirit that has driven the success of the likes of the ever-replayable Stardew Valley, where a fun adventure is as much based on relaxation and lightheartedness as it is the drive to explore and progress. While The Iron’s Hot, from developer Bontemps Games and publisher Humble Games, is the latest game to provide this kind of experience.

<![CDATA["Built Better Than The Original" - House Flipper 2 Review]]> House Flipper 2 is one of those game sequels that players dream about, combining everything that worked from the first game and adding even more. When the original House Flipper was released on Steam back in 2018, it quickly received an Overwhelmingly Positive review score as thousands of potential Flippers jumped in to clean, paint, decorate, and resell houses. The gameplay loop was addicting; as time passed more content was released through official DLCs and player-created Steam Workshop assets. The game was simple, fun, and let players be creative in their own space.

<![CDATA["Versatile, Foundational Features (& Flaws)" - The Sims 4 For Rent Review]]> The Sims 4 For Rent Expansion Pack adds versatile, foundational features that can be used to extremely creative ends, but a lack of cohesiveness in some areas and an epidemic of set pieces and rabbit holes hold it back from its full potential. For Rent isn't so much about outright new objectives and activities in the way DLC like Get Famous or Snowy Escape are; it instead focuses on introducing new frameworks that can be iterated upon, like the Clubs system of Get Together. Depending on a particular player's gameplay style, this may be a positive or a negative, and those who prefer more structured releases may find this one falls short.

<![CDATA["A Standout RPG" - Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince Review]]> In an increasingly crowded genre where heroes must befriend and recruit monsters for battle, Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince is a standout. The latest entry in this spin-off series, which recently celebrated its 25th anniversary, features the iconic monsters of Dragon Quest and more than a few recognizable faces from past DQ titles. It's a game for longtime fans and newcomers alike, one that's accessible as a first-time entry or one that works as a trek down memory lane celebrating the series' past.

<![CDATA["Condensed, Refined, Bloody" - Wizordum Review]]> Even though it's only 1/3 of the way complete, Emberheart Games' Wizordum is required playing for not just Hexen fans, but anyone who has ever looked up from messing around with an in-game level editor only to realize it's 03:00 and you've been working on diagetic enemy placement for six hours. As yet another movement shooter from Apogee in the vein of Duke 3D, Wizordum stands out by pulling the same trick Hexen did when it branched off the DOOM engine in 1995; setting itself apart with unique enemies, an elaborate fantasy setting, and magical spells instead of assault rifles. It worked then, and it works here too.

<![CDATA["Puts The Hard In Hard Rock" - Metal: Hellsinger Leviathan & Purgatory DLC Review]]> Last year's rocking heavy metal rhythm shooter Metal: Hellsinger returns with the Purgatory DLC and free roguelike Leviathan mode that is more hardcore than the game's catchy soundtrack. With additional weapons and a challenging new mode, Metal: Hellsinger feels more like a complete package that provides many more hours of fun beyond its short campaign.
